Responsibilities of the Ministry of Health
The Ministry of Health has the mission of defending, protecting and promoting the health of the population through the planning and implementation of Public Health policies, ensuring universal and equal access to quality and quantitative adequate health care services by the National Health System, as well as regulating the operation and supervision of private health care providers.

In order to fulfill the mission of the Ministry of Health, the Central Office is responsible in particular for:
1. The submission to the Government of the measures for the fulfillment of the mission of the Ministry.
2. To inform the members of the Greek Parliament.
3. The representation of Greece in the European Union, in foreign States, in international organizations and other organizations, domestic or foreign, in order to fulfill the mission of the Ministry.
4. Cooperation with the other Ministries, Public Services and Organizations, in order to fulfill
the mission of the Ministry.
