About

The Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC) is an agency of the federal direct administration, created on May 12, 2016 with Provisional Measure No. 726, converted into Law 13,341, dated September 29, 2016. The law extinguished the Ministry of Communications and transformed the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation in the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC), expanding the range of contributions of the agency in the delivery of public services relevant to the country's development.

With the Provisional Measure No. 870, dated January 1, 2019, which establishes the basic organization of the Presidency of the Republic and of the Ministries, MCTIC confirms its importance with the incorporation of two more Research Units and a Secretariat in its organizational structure .
