About
The emergence and development of the ministry
 
 
The Ministry of Social Development was affected, before its establishment, during and after it, by the conditions of the Jordanian society, which were reflected in its position on social work, which constitutes the field of its practical practice, as shown below:

 

A: Social work began in Jordan voluntarily, through charitable societies, which were formed in the period from 1912-1935 under the Ottoman Associations Law. For reasons that appear social (social solidarity).

 

B: After the state was established in the early twenties of the twentieth century, many charitable societies were registered under the Jordanian Associations Law of 1936, with the Prime Minister.

 

A: After Jordan gained its independence in 1946, a special department for social affairs was established in the Ministry of Interior in 1948. To address the phenomenon of internal migration, and its effects.

 

D: In 1951 the Department of Social Affairs was transferred from the Ministry of Interior to the Ministry of Health, and it was raised to a department known at the time as the Department of Social Affairs, and its role was to limit the migration of citizens from the countryside to cities, take care of juvenile delinquents, and provide aid to the poor.

 

E:  In 1956 Law of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor No. 14 of 1956 was issued ,  and Article Three of it stipulated the objective of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, which is to  "provide comprehensive social security and productive adequacy, coordinate social services for all citizens in all stages of life, and regulate their investment . 

 

W: In 1956, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor applied its law through its following organizational departments:

 

1-  The Social Welfare Department, which is concerned with providing assistance, organizing civil social activity, and caring for the family.

 

2-  The Cooperative Establishment Department.

 

3-  Department of Labor.

 

4-  The Rural Terminology Department, which was concerned with the rise of local communities.

 

G: In 1963, the Social Welfare Department in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor became comprised of the following sections: behavior monitoring and juvenile care, rehabilitation affairs, civic activity and financing, and relief.

 

H: In 1965, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor annexed the Social Service Institute, following the issuance of its Regulation No. 138 of 1965.
