The Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN), is a public-private venture that has invited expressions of interest in the design, construction, operation, maintenance and financing of the first of the five planned solar power stations in the southern town of Ouarzazate.
In 2016, Masen became the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy. Its remit was extended to all renewable energy sources (chiefly solar, wind and hydropower) and its goal is to achieve a minimum installed capacity of 3,000 MW by 2020 and 6,000 MW by 2030.
Masen develops integrated energy projects (renewables installations) under an agreement between the Moroccan state and Masen.
MISSION
Masen’s missions are designed to be applied on a continental and international scale. Now an established player in the renewable energy sector, both regionally and globally, Masen aims to share all of its best-practices in order to boost the integrated development of renewable energy in countries that have these natural resources and have not yet or not sufficiently harnessed them.
