MCRIT SL. (www.mcrit.com) was founded in 1988 by engineers at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia- Barcelona Tech interested in policy impact assessment. “MCRIT” stands for “Multicriteria”, the method of decision support that integrates quantitative and qualitative assessments of multiple assessment criteria.
MCRIT’s research activities have been oriented to both the development of advanced systems and planning methods, including information, forecasting and policy assessment models. MCRIT has been involved in a number of projects directly related to the impact assessment of European policies and investments and the development of tools for the identification and analysis of territorial evidence.
Social Responsibility
In 2004 MCRIT created ERSILIA Foundation (www.ersilia.org) aiming to transfer to the educational community at all levels the know-how of MCRIT in the use of advanced technologies to develop scenario-centric and project-based resources facilitating new educational paradigm. Over the years, ERSILIA has been very active collaborating with publishing houses, schools, and public administrations in this field. ERSILIA made a general assessment of engineering education in Catalonia and explored strategies to introduce the CDIO (Concept-Design-Implementation-Operation) approach in engineering schools. ERSILIA is currently part of European research projects in the field, such as KA-AU Knowledge Alliance for Advanced Urbanism (Erasmus+), ATHIKA-Advanced Training in Health Innovation Knowledge Alliance (Erasmus+), BUILD-Building Urban Intelligent Living Design Solutions (Erasmus +) and INTREPID (COST Action TD1408)- Interdisciplinary research programming and funding cycles.
