About

The National AIDS and STI’s Control Programme (NASCOP) was established in 1987 to spearhead the Ministry of Health’s interventions on the fight against HIV/AIDS.

NASCOP therefore operates as a Unit within the Ministry of Health and is mainly involved with technical co-ordination of HIV and AIDS programmes in Kenya. NASCOP contributes to the bulk of the implementation of the Kenya Aids Strategic Framework (KASF) 2014-2019.

The key mandate of NASCOP is to lead the health sector response to HIV and AIDS and STIs. This involves Policy and guidelines formulation, Procurement and supply chain management coordination, capacity building and Monitoring and Evaluation of the HIV response.

NASCOP is mandated for Health Sector implementation of the Kenya AIDS Strategic Framework (KASF) in addition to global and regional obligations relating to HIV achieving the MDGs and SDG number 3

NASCOP is also responsible for the development of normative guidance in HIV Programming.
