Novi Sad School of Journalism (NNŠ) is a civil society organization that deals with the development and professionalization of the media sphere in Serbia and the region, respects the values of truth, knowledge and critical approach in a multilingual, multicultural and multiethnic environment and fosters a moderate and tolerant dialogue.
The Novi Sad School of Journalism has been in existence since 1996 and has been operating as a non-governmental organization since 1998.
The project activities of the organization are focused on: raising professional capacities in the media sector; monitoring and analysis of media content; educating various target groups on media literacy as well as public advocacy that contributes to the democratization and development of civil society and the promotion of European values .
For all the above mentioned NNŠ offers knowledge that affirms communication, without discrimination, ethnicity, confessionalism, sexism and racism .
NNŠ has established excellent cooperation with numerous domestic and foreign media and educational institutions and organizations from the governmental and non-governmental sector.
Since 2000, NNŠ has been a member of the South East European Network for Media Professionalization (SEENPM)within which she realized various trainings for raising professional capacities and sensitivity of editors and journalists for reporting on different topics and target groups. At the same time, trainings were held for training young researchers dealing with media policies and public advocacy projects.
NNŠ is also one of the founders of the Media Initiative Network, an international consortium founded in 2005, which brings together media experts and activists from BiH, Croatia and Serbia. The consortium's mission is to encourage free circulation of information, exchange of ideas and experiences in the media sphere in the Western Balkans.
Since April 2014, NNŠ has officially become a member of the international Media and LearningAssociation - MEDEA for media literacy. The main goal of the association is to promote and encourage the media as a tool for improving innovation and creativity in education at all levels of education in Europe.
NNŠ has received several international awards since its inception. The last in a row was awarded in 2013 by the ERSTE Foundationentitled Honorary Social Innovation Award for the " Day in Your Shoes " project.
