Organismo Cristiano de Desarrollo Integral de Honduras (OCDIH) began its work specifically in the municipality of Copan Ruinas on April 4, 1994, in indigenous communities. Currently, 12 Maya Chortí indigenous communities, distributed among the three municipalities, are served with the objective of consolidating their productive, social and economic capacities.
The processes of management and political advocacy are supported, transparency and the culture of accountability are promoted, as well as the defense of the rights of women, young people and children, through the Citizenship and Democratization component. The component of Sustainable Production Systems supports the strengthening of the capacities of producers (as), training them as: Agricultural Farmers, in order to promote a process of adoption and diffusion of Sustainable Agriculture techniques in Slopes, promoting the establishment of family and school gardens, integral farms, plots of artisan seed selection, nurseries and development of environmental education activities among others. And in the component of Agro-businesses and local economic initiatives, the strengthening of Rural Savings Banks is promoted as an alternative of financial services for the communities, and micro-enterprises.
