OCDI was established as a "Center for International Port Policy (CIPP)" to strengthen its research capacity on port policies in foreign countries, and to enhance international exchange between foreign researchers. The major activities of CIPP are as follows:

• International port security and environmental counter measures
• Integrated international multi-modal transport
• Policy proposals on port cooperation at APEC port specialist conferences
• Policy proposals on international logistics at the Northeast Asian port director conferences
• Proposal on implementation of Japan-ASEAN transport sector cooperation
• Research and study at related international conferences

 

Fact Findings and Analysis

• Development of basic international port database (cargo volume OD, port tariff, data of vessel size, etc.)
• System analysis on extensive international logistics
• Analysis on port tariff

 

International Exchange

• Development of human networks and human resource database
• International exchange between researchers and specialists

OCDI renders the following consulting services to assist thedevelopment of all types of port and related coastal areas.

Training and Seminars

To foster skilled personnel and for the purpose of technical transfer to developing countries, OCDI executes training programs and technical cooperation projects. The following activities are undertaken independently by OCDI or in cooperation with other organizations.
