About

PEMA-Kenya is a membership-based organisation founded in 2008 whose work is premised upon creating an enabling environment for its members and the general population to thrive.

They are a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer (LGBTIQ)-led organisation that works with LGBTIQ individuals and communities as well as stakeholders seeking to bridge the gap that exists between the general population and gender and sexual minorities (GSM).

Mission

To promote co-existence in society and inclusivity of GSM through advocacy and capacity-building. 

Goal

To educate and engage to promote co-existence and inclusivity.

Vision

A society that embraces justice and diversity.

Community ownership: Their core existence is based on their members. They seek to implement the activities and ideas generated by our membership and stakeholders.

Commitment: They pledge to follow through on the promises they make to their members and stakeholders. Persistence in their path will be the guarantor of their success.

Responsiveness: They understand and will continue to appreciate the dynamism in the sector within which they work. They commit to be responsive in all matters in which they engage.

Integration/inclusivity: They affirm that there cannot be progress without congruence of thought and purpose. They strive to consult all relevant parties and include them in the decisions and progress they make.
