Plan International Australia

For 80 years, they've been keeping children safe, happy and healthy. Plan International was founded in 1937 by British journalist John Langdon-Davies and refugee worker Eric Muggeridge, originally to provide food, accommodation and education to refugee children whose lives had been disrupted by the Spanish Civil War. It was Langdon-Davies who conceived the idea of a personal relationship between a child and a sponsor – a model that puts a child at the centre, and remains the core of what they do. Today, Plan International is a global organisation, working in more than 51 developing countries to provide children with access to basic rights like education, food, clean water, health, protection, play, and a good standard of living. WITH CHILDREN, FOR CHILDREN They actively involve children in everything they do, with no religious or political affiliations. Their vision is of a world in which every child has the opportunity to realise their full potential, in societies that respect people's rights and dignity regardless of religion, ethnicity or gender. They want children to know and understand their rights – and have the skills, knowledge and confidence to fulfil them. They're working with children, communities and organisations around the world to make this vision a reality.
