Positive action for Development (PAD) is an Ethiopian resident’s charity organization. The organization has legally registered by Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopian Charities and Societies agency on June 6/2011, licensed under the registration number 2330 and also renewed its licensed on July, 23, 2014 for three consecutive years till July, 23, 2017. Currently, the organization has a significant and active operational presence in the Eastern parts of the country particularly in Dire Dawa city administration and Harari regional state. PAD is mandated to accomplish activities targeting marginalized and underserved vulnerable

 

Organizational mandate 

Specifically the organization is legally mandated by federal ChSA to accomplish activities related with the following programmatic directions including.

• Addressing the challenge of orphan and vulnerable children and their families through provision of integrated alternative family and community based child care protection support including provision of psychosocial, economic, scholastic, health, family sponsorship and capacity building support
• Supporting School age boys and girls poorly performing in their schooling due to economic problem through provision of scholastic material provision, creating access to tutor service, provision of psychosocial support and capacity building support provision
• Enhancing the economic situation, saving culture and developing business management enterprinual skill of families affected and living in poverty
• Improving the situation of men women and children affected by socio-economic problem through provision integrated service provision including need based material support provision, capacity development support provision and enhancing their awareness
• Supporting environmental protection initiative in he rural and urban area to contribute for the establishment of safe environment in which the marginalized community
• Mitigating the challenge of drug addiction among youth through intervention targeting awareness creation about the problem and provision of rehabilitation support to people suffering from the problem
• Reducing the negative impact of traffic accident through enhancing the awareness of the community and provision of integrated support for people affected by the problem
• Providing integrated need based support to improve the situation of disabled people and their family
• Provision of integrated economic psychosocial, health, recreation, awareness creation, capacity building support to people affected by health problem including mental ill healthy, HIV/AIDS 
• Supporting children and elderly out of family care and involving on bagging through provision of integrated socio-economic support

Programmatic Area and Organizational Experience

Despite its short period of establishment, Positive Action For Development emerged to be the most capable and successful developmental partner in its operational area particularly in addressing the problem faced by highly vulnerable children (HVCs), marginalized and mental ill health affected male female and children, vulnerable youth empowerment and development and provision of support for vulnerable school girls and vulnerable women both in Dire Dawa city administration and Harari regional state. In a little more than three years of operation and partnership with the community, Positive Action For development (PAD) evolved from operating in one programmatic issue focusing on girl’s education to diversified development intervention including child protection, youth empowerment, poverty reduction, mental health and environmental protection.
