PHASE (Practical Help Achieving Self Empowerment) Nepal is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious organisation which works with 22 villages across six districts of Nepal – Bajura, Gorkha, Humla, Kavrepalanchowk, Mugu, and Sindhupalchowk, serving a total population of almost 65,000 people. They specialize in improving health care, education services and livelihood opportunities for disadvantaged populations in very remote and resource-poor Himalayan mountain villages – areas often neglected by development NGOs for being too difficult or expensive to manage projects in.
PHASE believes that poor health, low educational levels and poverty are all aspects of the same problem, and create a cycle that prevents people from taking control of their own futures. They aim to support the most vulnerable populations to break the cycle of poverty by assisting communities and local authorities to lay the groundwork for a self-sufficient future. Their integrated Community Development Programme (CDP) aims to address these aspects simultaneously while empowering individuals and communities.
