Rural Aid and Development Organization (RADO) is an NGO registered in the Netherlands. The organization focuses their activities in the rural areas of East Africa but primarily in the countries of Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Their primary objectives are to eradicate poverty, increase the availability of education, improve sanitation and empower the rural population. The organization also supports local initiatives and helps organize social events that bring the communities together that aid in community cohesions. RADO also provides hands training to the unemployed, especially the youth and women, in order to prepare them for employment.

Relief

Our main objectives are

• To feed the poor and to end hunger by providing food, shelter, clean water and other basic needs.
• Raise public awareness on courses of poverty and how to eradicate.
• Providing immediate life-saving assistance to people affected by natural disaster like flood and drought.
• Providing relief to internally displaced people(IDPs)

 

Education

Education is the fundamental human rights for all human, yet many children specially girls remain deprived of educational opportunities and other skills as a result of poverty. RADO main educational objectives are:

• Raising community awareness on importance of acquiring enough knowledge and skills and making sure school age children specially girls enroll and remain in school.
• Improving the quality of teachers by giving enough training.
• Providing learning materials like books, computers and pens which will support the teaching and learning processes.

 

Health

RADO is committed:

• Providing facilities to healthcare institutions.
• Feeding chronically malnourished children
• Educate community on importance of hygiene and how to live a healthy life.
• Providing sanitary items to the needy people.
• -Distribute nutritious food rations to pregnant mothers
• -Raise awareness on risk and other health effects of female genital mutilation(FGM)

 

Gender inequality

Woman are the backbone of every community and play an important role in the society ,more often they are abused or discriminated in every field i.e. education ,labor market, security etc. RADO’s main objectives on this issue are:

• Provide Safe accommodation for abused women
• Educating woman on how to be independent and take part community leadership.
• Facilitate woman with livelihood skills training for self-employment.
• Encourage girls to enroll schools and assist with the necessary tools for learning.
