Several girls in pastoralist communities are exploited, abused, and discriminated. They need special protection to promote their physical, physiological, spiritual, moral, and social development.

These children include girls between the ages of (9-15years) who suffer from beading practices, Female Genital Mutilation, forced child marriages, children affected by sexually exploited resulting to crude abortion, infanticide, as well as children living with disabilities, or suffering from discrimination because of outcast cultural beliefs in the society.

It is because of the unique vulnerability of indigenous girls and women that their rights are of priority concern within SWT aspirations and work in advancing girls rights, focuses on the need of special protection measures for girls and women.

They are an umbrella of indigenous women and girls’ network that articulate their developments, social needs and address challenges as well as facilitates them to advance and protect their human rights and aspirations collectively.

The Trust is a women driven whose key mandate is to raise not only the voice and status of indigenous women and girls but also spearheads local initiatives aimed at securing human and women rights; safety for local women and the girl-child in the society, women access to natural resources, indigenous knowledge and wellbeing are our thematic focus in Isiolo, Laikipia, Samburu and Marsabit counties.

They are an indigenous women-led organization that champions the rights of women and girls among the pastoralists’ communities through strengthening their capacity to influence policies, decision making processes and address harmful cultural practices.

They envision a society that upholds human rights, fundamental freedom, wellbeing, dignity of women and girls in pastoral communities.

They believe in promoting rights, educating, recognizing and uplifting pastoralists’ women and girls through collective voices.
