Save the Children is an international organization present in Burkina Faso since the 1980s. It is involved in the promotion and defense of the rights of the child. Responding to the great drought of the 1970s, Save the Children has launched the first time its programs in Burkina Faso in 1982.
Through the presence of Save the Children / Canada, Save the Children / USA, Save the Children / UK and Save the Children / Netherlands, the organization has worked for many years on the well-being of children through to independent programs.
In 2010, aiming for better coordination and effectiveness of actions in different countries, the Save the Children members came together to form Save the Children International (SCI). From then on, the country offices formed representations through which all members should carry out their programs. The Burkina Faso office thus transited from Save the Children Canada to Save the Children International on 1 September 2012.
Becoming Save the Children Burkina Faso, it is present in six (06) regions such as: Center, Center-Nord, Nord, Hauts-Bassins, Cascades and Boucle du Mouhoun. These regional offices, called "bases", house programs in various areas for children. Nowadays, an integrated program of education and health, nutrition and child protection activities, as well as emergency programs are carried out in partnership with international organizations, civil society organizations, NGOs and national and international associations, children's organizations and the communities themselves.
