Principal functions

1. The formulation, coordination, execution and evaluation of policies related to public infrastructure works, the road system and transportation, including:

• The planning, study, design, construction, supervision and conservation of the national road network, including interurban and urban land communication routes.
• The planning, study, design, construction, supervision and conservation of public infrastructure works, the execution of which is not expressly attributed to other agencies and the advice to the latter on those same matters.
• The formulation of technical specifications for the design, construction, supervision and conservation of public works.
• The stewardship over the supervision and control of land transportation, as well as air navigation and transportation, in accordance with the laws on the matter.

2. The concessionary regime for public works, including the procedures for awarding concessions, the regulation of the concessionaire's activities in accordance with the contracts and laws on the matter and advice to municipalities that require it, when dealing with municipal public works. .
