In 1974, when we began, our specialty was design and construction of bridges. Today, more than 900 projects with some 300 clients in nearly 50 countries later, we still build bridges, but of many kinds. We have learned well that institutional bridges are often the key to successful infrastructure projects. Our worldwide experience in assessing and designing infrastructure is focused in selected key business sectors: -Transportation/Infrastructure -Environment and Energy -Integrated Water Resources Management -Institutional Strengthening -Agriculture and Rural Development -International Development -Architecture   Within these sectors, both domestically in the US and internationally, we have proven capability to organize and manage multi-disciplinary teams of local and international consultants. Our staff and associates are experts who combine technical competence, managerial efficiency and integrity, and effective inter-personal skills to provide outstanding service even under difficult conditions and within tight time frames.   SECTORS Transportation Transportation has long been the engine of development and trade. Since its creation, Sheladia, through its engineering and management efforts, has been associated with the movement of goods and people throughout the world. To stay current in this ever-accelerating race, we are constantly upgrading our resources and knowledge in order that we can provide quality assistance to our clients in providing a safe, efficient and reliable means of transportation.   Architecture At Sheladia, we are an integrated team of design and planning professionals committed to creativity with strategic and unique design solutions that are tailored to meet our client’s needs. Subsequently we support our customized services with values and benefits that our clients deserve as part of a total design package.   Integrated Water Resources Management Sheladia is concerned with the quality and availability of water which is the most important resource in the world. From urban to rural environments and from public agencies to private community efforts, Sheladia has been active in the management of water. With water-born diseases that can so drastically devastate a community, Sheladia has been involved in many successful projects which integrate Health, Water and Sanitation concerns.   Agriculture and Rural Development Sheladia has an extensive background with building local capacity and local economies through agricultural and rural development. We have successfully been able to improve livelihoods and capacity through the introduction of technologies and techniques that support sustainable development. A key focus has always been to balance the social elements and the environmental elements within any activity supporting agricultural and rural development, in an effort to uplift the region economically.   Environment and Energy Sheladia understands that Energy and Environment are cornerstones of successful infrastructure investments and sustainable development. The firm therefore provides services for the assessment and management of environmental and social impacts, conservation of natural resources, and alternative strategies and technologies for meeting energy needs.   International Development SHELADIA offers services focused on particular needs of developing economies with a focus in four major areas: Transportation & Infrastructure; Agriculture & Rural Development; Environment & Energy; and Water Resources, Sanitation and Health. Assisting governments and communities to increase their capacity and capability in these areas is a key component of SHELADIA’s work. SHELADIA’S own international roots have kept us acutely attuned to the requirements, potential and sensitivities of other nations. Our staff share strong commitments to building the capacities of our partners and to applying our expertise worldwide in an effort to assist in alleviating poverty and promoting sustainable development.   Institutional Strengthening Sheladia offers services focused on the particular needs of developing economies with a focus in four major areas: Transportation & Infrastructure; Agriculture & Rural Development; Environment & Energy; and Water Resources, Sanitation and Health. Institutional Strengthening is a key component of the work Sheladia carries out in all of these areas.
