They are also witnessing a high frequency of droughts. Between 1900 and the year 2000, there was on an average one drought per decade in India. Between 2000 and 2014, there have been four droughts and one Monsoon deficit year (2012). They are witnessing more extreme weather events. And there are clear indicators that this will only increase. There are the obvious human costs. But there are implications on food and energy security, that all of us have to bear.
