The National Society of Electricity, '' SNEL '' in the acronym is a public company created by the ordinance-Law n ° 70/033 of May 16th, 1970. 

It had to function in the form of a public establishment with an industrial and commercial character and named National Electricity Company '' SNEL sarl '' in abbreviation, joint-stock company with limited liability, without this being able to give birth to another legal person (under Decree n ° 09/11 and n ° 09/12 of 24 April 2009 relating respectively to transitional measures relating to the transformation of public enterprises and list of public enterprises transformed into Trading Companies,public establishments and public services taken in implementation of the law n ° 08/007 of July 07, 2008 laying down general provisions relating to the transformation of the public companies.

Today, the company takes the name of '' Société Nationale d'Electricité '' SNEL SA '' in acronym.

Its social object

SNEL's purpose is the production, transmission, distribution and marketing of electrical energy, primarily in the Democratic Republic of Congo and abroad.
