All of our faculties and graduate schools welcome international students. 1,148 international students come from more than 60 countries and from all parts of the world. Our faculty includes members from more than 20 countries, and most faculty members have overseas study and research experience.

Japan's Pioneer in Global Education

Sophia University has offered English-medium programs for more than 60 years. Reflecting the high regard in which its track record as a pioneer in global education is held, the University was recently chosen for a series of subsidy programs being implemented by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports,Science and Technology to internationalize universities in Japan, includeing the Top Global Universities Project and the Global 30 Project. These programs are helping to further strengthen the University's efforts to boost the global competency of our students.

At the same time, agreements with 206 overseas universities in 42 countiries ensure the dynamic mobility of our students. Over 1,500 international students are studying at Sophia from around the world, and are fostering an internatinalized campus culture. The univeresity is also renowned for encouraging Japanese students to study abroad with a broad spectrum of programs. Both incoming and outgoing students will discover how education really comes to life in an international context at Sophia.
