Southern California Edison (SCE), an Edison International company, is one of the nation’s largest investor-owned utilities.
Our service territory includes about 430 cities and communities with a total customer base of about 4.9 million residential and business accounts. The company serves nearly 14 million people in a 50,000 square-mile service area with Central, Coastal and Southern California.
SCE is regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The company maintains more than 115,000 miles of transmission lines and approximately 1.5 million electricity poles. In order to continue powering California’s growing population and economy, SCE plans to invest up to $20.4 billion over the next four years expanding and strengthening its electric system infrastructure.
They are also looking ahead to create a 21st century power network that can handle California's changing energy needs. Sophisticated technologies will be delivering electricity more reliably than ever, keeping outages to a minimum, and facilitating our customers' choices in adopting new technologies to generate their own energy and monitoring and controlling their overall usage.
From how they operate today to how they plan for the future, they are committed to protecting the environment as they deliver reliable, affordable power. Over the years, they have engaged millions of Californians in conserving electricity through energy efficiency programs — resulting in lower emissions and improved air quality. They have long been a national leader in renewable power, and today we’re delivering more renewable power than ever — in fact, more than any other utility nationwide.
