St Joseph Technical Training Centre is a vocational training institution under St Joseph the Worker Parish.
The institution, just like the school, is run by Jesuits Eastern Africa Province (AOR). The Training Centre
was established in 1987 with a vision to empower the youth with quality vocational skills at affordable
costs.
The institution is anchored on Jesuit educational traditions within Kangemi slum while at the same time
maintaining the original vision of offering practical skills for livelihood for the youth.
Currently the institution has a population of over 135 students, women and youth.

St. Joseph Technical Training Centre offers courses under the National Industrial Training Authority curriculum
guided by TIVET values and goals. The institution offers skills in Fashion and Design, Hairdressing and Beauty,
Electrical and Solar Installation and Computer Studies. .

1. National Industrial Training Authority and Technical and Vocational Education and Training
<style="text-align: justify;"=""><class="latest-text w3_latest_text"=""> The training centre has successfully been able to integrate technical skills in line with NITA and TVET
vocational training curriculum aspirations.This has been possible especially with the cooperation of trainees
and trainers. At the end of their training, trainees are well placed to sit for the National Industrial Training Authority
(NITA) accredited examinations.
2. Hair Dressing and Beauty
The institution has a well equipped salon that offers trainees opportunities to gain skills in
hairdressing and beauty. Trainees are prepared to sit for NITA based examinations.
The course takes up to eight months after which trainees are well equipped with
knowledge and skills to help them venture into gainful employment.
3. Fashion and Design
Units offered in this course include Tailoring, Dress Making and Embroidery.Trainees undertaking
Dress-making take at least one year to learn the skills while the Tailoring course takes between 8-12
months. Trainees undertake the NITA accredited exams at the end of their training.Embroidery is a
short course that takes 3 months to complete.
The school uniforms for our secondary school students are usually made by trainees undertaking
Fashion and Design course, cutting the cost of contracting someone while at the same time
enhancing the skills of these our trainees.
4. Electrical and Solar Installation
The well equipped workshop offers trainees opportunities to translate their theoretical knowledge into practice
upon completion trainess sit for the the Government Trade Test Examination
5. Extra curricular activities
The institution offers trainees opportunities to participate in workshops on life skills, civic education, parenthood
and family life education as well as business skills so that they are fully prepared to fulfill their life obligations.
