Tanzania Land Alliance (TALA)
The Tanzania Land Alliance (TALA) is a member-based organization representing the leading land rights civil society organizations in Tanzania. TALA plays a unique role in giving local communities and members a voice to policymakers.
Land is life for most Tanzanians, yet far too many remain at risk of losing it. Today, land is highly sought after by a number of competing interests. If those who depend on their land every day don’t have rights over it, then they face losing not just their land but their entire livelihood. They can’t let this happen.
Tanzanians - especially communities and marginalized people - must have secure rights to their land. They need great laws and policies in place that provide for secure rights to land and they need systems and institutions that uphold those rights.
An empowered Tanzanian society where all citizens and communities have secure and equitable access, use, control and ownership over land, benefiting lives, cultures and future generations.
To enhance equitable access to, control and ownership over land through coordination, joint advocacy, and sharing of knowledge and information.
Through effective advocacy to bring about improved land law policies that safeguard and secure the land rights of marginalised groups.See more
