Established in 1980, the primary aim of Tata Chemical Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) is to initiate and support community development programmes in and around regions where Tata Chemicals Limited facilities are located. And while each region is different in terms of geographic spread, subcultures and socio-economic requirements, TCSRD strives to protect, nurture and uplift the communities by adopting an integrated approach to development and designing region-specific need-based programmes. While the roots for TCSRD interventions were laid in Mithapur, today they extend to all the areas where Tata Chemicals has operations. This includes Farrukhabad in UP, regions in West Bengal, Mambattu, Cuddalore and Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, Barwani in Madhya Pradesh, Nellore in Andhra Pradesh and Amravati in Maharashtra.
TCSRD’s activities cover the areas of Building Economic Capital (promoting and developing farm-based and non-farm based livelihoods), Ensuring Environmental Integrity (covering natural resource management and biodiversity conservation), Enablers for Social, Economic & Environmental Development (promoting health & wellness, education and drinking water & sanitation) and Building Social Capital (which coves social inclusion, promoting social enterprises, capacity building and leveraging partnerships).
