At Thabyay Education Foundation (TEF), they believe that quality education for all is the fulcrum for the development of peaceful, socially just, democratic and prosperous societies.  Since they were founded in 1996, they have worked to support people from Myanmar to access the education and professional development opportunities that they need to help their society achieve these goals.

The individuals and organizations that we support play prominent roles in the development of many keys sectors of Myanmar society, including education, healthcare, law, human rights, women's empowerment, environmental protection, community development, food security, livelihoods, social work, disability services and empowerment, peace building and reconciliation, media and journalism and youth development.

To educate, develop, inspire, connect and empower individuals and organizations who are change-makers in Southeast Asia with a primary focus on Myanmar.  They seek to achieve this through knowledge creation, innovative learning and guided skills expansion, as well as by forging connections to networks, information and opportunities.  They are inspired to create far-reaching transformations for the people of Myanmar.

Key Functions

• -Providing educational support to help beneficiaries obtain the necessary qualifications to apply for university.
• -Developing networks that offer information and application support to assist beneficiaries to identify, apply for and gain acceptance to suitable university courses.
• -Negotiating with university partners in Asia to obtain fee waivers for scholarship beneficiaries.
• -Sourcing and providing internships with development-oriented organizations across Asia for scholarship beneficiaries and key community and civil society workers to develop their skills and networks, and raise awareness of Myanmar among peer organizations in the region.
• -Developing and distributing a wide range of context-appropriate learning materials for young adults to develop analytical skills, broaden perspectives and prepare for higher education.
• -Providing training to teachers to promote active, analytical, learner-centered learning.
• -Sourcing, placing and supporting teaching volunteers to upgrade the English language levels of beneficiaries in preparation for higher education.
