Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Project (El Proyecto de Derechos Economicos, Sociales y Culturales - ProDESC)

About

The Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Project, AC. ProDESC is a feminist organization with a transnational reach and an intersectional vision of the defense of human rights, founded in 2005 by the lawyer and defender Alejandra Ancheita.

With the implementation of the integral defense method, designed under a series of strategic lines, the ProDESC team defends and accompanies community processes attending to 3 fundamental rights:

THE METHOD IS AN INNOVATIVE PROPOSAL IN MEXICO; IT IS A LIVING PROCESS THAT IS PERFECTING AND COMPLEMENTING OVER TIME.

ProDESC has the fundamental objective of defending and promoting Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR), to contribute to their validity, justiciability (the possibility of demanding compliance before the courts), and enforceability, and thus build a more just and equitable society.

Given the lack of adequate public policies for people's access, especially women, to ESCR and institutionalized decision-making processes, ProDESC has developed a comprehensive defense method to address the problems that afflict your target population.

COMPREHENSIVE DEFENSE: INNOVATIVE METHOD

The comprehensive defense method is the accompaniment model applied by ProDESC for dealing with violations of the economic, social, and cultural rights of communities and groups. This proposal, unique in Mexico, is perfected and complemented over time in a joint exercise of creation that involves communities and groups as a central element.

The comprehensive defense method is based on a series of strategic lines that, when applied harmoniously, increase the probability of access to justice and the enjoyment of economic, social, and cultural rights for communities and groups not only in Mexico but also in the Global South. These lines are:

  • - National and international strategic human rights litigation.
  • - Analysis of key information for the defense of human rights.
  • - Incidence with public and private actors with interference in human rights.
  • - Strategic communication with narratives that combat the hegemonic discourse.
  • - Organizational strategies for the strengthening of collective subjects.
  • - Education and training for human rights defenders.
  • - Corporate research for the comprehensive defense of human rights.
