SmartFish, a social enterprise based in La Paz, Mexico, is incentivizing more sustainable artisanal fishing by creating new markets. On the supply side, they empower fishermen and their families to catch and produce seafood  at highest quality and higher sustainability, which is unprecedented in the region. In turn, they cultivate demand for this seafood, working with culinary ambassadors like celebrity chefs, and we sell to Mexico's hospitality industry.

SmartFish's triple bottom line returns are extraordinary. Fishermen can earn double while catching less than half, fishing more sustainably; their underemployed wives earn well, processing their fish; and SmartFish retains a margin for scaling. There is considerable need and potential for replicating SmartFish's success regionally and beyond.
