SOFICO has been improving mobility in Wallonia for 25 years, on both the waterways and the highways, thus supporting economic development in the entire region.

Apart from its prime mission of closing missing links in the trans-European network, SOFICO now ensures the management, maintenance and rehabilitation of the so-called 'structuring' network, in particular thanks to revenue from the per-kilometre charge imposed on heavy goods vehicles.

It is also responsible for motorway service area concessions and promotes the development of carpooling car parks. SOFICO grants concessions to develop renewable energy projects and acts as a telecommunications operator to upgrade the fibre optic network.

Ultimately, SOFICO is working towards the development of smart motorways.
