Without changing the focus of its action, focused on multilevel democratic governance and relentless management for the professionalization of the authorities and leaders who serve local governments, after 30 years, the UIM is a benchmark in linked Ibero-America to municipalities and local public management issues.
With more than 3,500 partners - the UIM PEOPLE - of 30 different nationalities, the UIM is an International Association for Development, non-profit, nonpartisan, with its own legal personality and full capacity to act.
The organization - the UIM Family-has consolidated an important work in favor of democracy and governance, being the incidence of its action at the local level and with the Municipal Governments of all the nations of Ibero-America, and also, at the supra-municipal level through its work with international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the Organization of American States (OAS), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the United Nations Development Program ( UNDP), UN Women, the European Union, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Latin American Center for Human Economy (CLAEH), the Andalusian Agency for Development Cooperation (AACID) and the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) of which the UIM is an adjunct program.
