Unidad de Protección a defensoras y defensores de Derechos Humanos de Guatemala (UDEFEGUA) is an organization that provides services to human rights defenders in Guatemala and in countries of the Central American region since 2000, for the generation of individual and collective capacities for self-management of risks. The mission of UDEFEGUA is to provide comprehensive support to human rights defenders to empower them in the management and self-management of their security. The Vision is that human rights defenders carry out their work safely. The Unit carries out actions for the protection of human rights defenders such as: Verification of Attacks / Aggressions against Human Rights Defenders for their work, Legal Advice, Advice on Security issues (risk analysis and plans of security, infrastructure diagnoses and support for the installation of security supplies), Support for Emergency Human Rights Defenders / en high-risk, Specialized Support for Human Rights Defenders. Support for the creation of protection networks. These actions are carried out in Guatemala and in other countries of the region, such as Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Southern Mexico, where the organization has strategic support and alliances that allow access to the defenders sector. and be able to support from the different fields in which the same works.
