THe National Telehealth Center's (NTHC) commitment is to engage people to use available technologies to improve health care albeit distance barriers. Since its conception, it continues to develop telehealth applications derived from people’s own problem-solving contributions. Through research-cum-service activities, the center helps both patients and health care providers maximize widely available and cost-effective ICT tools to improve delivery of healthcare.
Goal Statement
We create practical and cost-effective ICT solutions for the health problems of the Philippines.

Progam Areas
eLearning - Pre-service and in-service training is important to build people’s capacities on eHealth. Whether you are a health worker, a software developer, or a student interested on doing research on eHealth, NTHC welcomes you to its eHealth Seminar and eHealth Training activities that will equip you from the basics of eHealth to planning for your own training program.
eMedicine - Doctors who give highly specialized care are concentrated in cities. Referred as “clinical specialists”, access to their services is difficult in rural communities in the Philippines. Through telemedicine research-cum-service under the National Telehealth Service Program, a patient’s condition can be referred directly to clinical specialists in their region or to the Philippine General Hospital through information and communications technology.
eRecords - The center advocates for electronic medical record systems (EMR) that could easily work with other information systems. One of most successful EMRs developed by NTHC and UP Manila is the Community Health Information Tracking System (CHITS). It is the first EMR for government-based health facilities now implemented to over 200 health facilities in the country.
eHealth Policy Advocacy - An advocate for access and participation in ICT for development, NTHC is convenor of the International Open Source Network ASEAN+3, created by the United Nations Development Program in 2007, and the Asia eHealth Information Network, in cooperation with the WHO-Western Pacific Regional Office in 2012.
