Urban Practice is a Macau based research lead practice founded by Nuno Soares to operate on the contemporary city in the fields of architecture, urban planning and design. The projects developed at Urban Practice encompass different scales and themes, from buildings of various sizes and nature, to public space, urban plans, installations and exhibitions, furniture and product design.
Immersed on the urban context, Urban Practice has the city as its inspiration, embracing its problems and conditions as opportunities to discover innovative solutions that can shape the future urban environment.
The practice thrives in a collaborative atmosphere that promotes a constant creative interaction between the team, the clients, and the associate companies, individuals and institutions. The results are concept-oriented projects, devised as a contribution for the construction of the contemporary city.
Urban Practice created the winning design for the competition of the Macau Pavilion at the 2013 and 2015 SZHK Bi-city Biennales of Urbanism/Architecture (Shenzhen) and the installation “The Added Layer” that was part of the Macau pavilion at the 2014 Venice Biennale of Architecture.
