The Safety Region South Holland South ( VRZHZ ) is working on a safe and healthy environment for the residents, businesses and visitors of their region. Good cooperation between all parties is of great importance for this. The security region connects, coordinates and facilitates all parties involved to prevent incidents, disasters and crises . Also they are working closely with the right preparation and the control of these incidents , disasters and crises . They anticipate new forms of crises and include within the regional risk profile.
In collaboration with their partners
They make plans in advance, establish cooperation agreements, train their employees properly and provide joint exercises. If an incident occurs disaster or crisis, are they with their partners in action. For example (medical) emergency services, such as the fire brigade, the police and the ambulance service. If necessary, they extend this collaboration to other relevant crisis partners . Think of town n , province, district water boards, Defense , Public Works and ( utility ) companies. They also work working closely with other security regions to prepare themselves thoroughly for trans-regional disasters and crises . In the event of incidents, disasters and crises, it is essential that all parties know who is going to do what , so that they can act quickly. In this way they are committed to effectively combat incidents, disasters and crises and to prevent victims and negative consequences for health as much as possible .
Preventing incidents
They feel involved with their residents, companies and visitors to the region . Therefore give them guidance in schools , in healthcare organizations, housing associations and residents . Also advise us companies on security and support them in making incident response plans and promoting the safety culture in their business. This is done to safe-p g behavior in their region to stimulate.
Decisive assistance
In their work, they make optimal use of the expertise of their employees and cooperation partners. Professional competence is very important to them, as is information-driven working. During an incident, disaster or crisis, their residents must be able to count on professional relief workers who are ready quickly and know what to do. Twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week. We do this with approximately 300 professional and more than 700 voluntary fire brigade employees.
Together with and for their municipalities
The VRZHZ is one of the 25 safety regions in the Netherlands. On behalf of the 10 municipalities in their region , they perform various tasks for crisis management, disaster management, fire services and medical assistance. The municipalities are: Dordrecht , Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Zwijndrecht, Alblasserdam, Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Papendrecht, Sliedrecht, Molenlanden and Hoeksche Waard . Together about 4 60,000 inhabitants.
Our organization
In addition to Management and Control, the organization consists of Operational Management (BV), Risk Management (RB), Fire Service Preparation (FEB), Incident Response (IB) and Disaster & Crises Preparation (VRC) departments.
The Operations department is responsible for, among other things, Policy & Development and Services. This includes Finance, Procurement, Information, Quality, Workplace Support, Building Management, Facilities, Legal Affairs and Insurance, Health, Safety, HRM and Communication.
The Risk Management department focuses on promoting safety. Municipalities and partners are advised, among other things, about safe construction and safe living. The department's work takes place in a broad social field and in public space; from healthcare institution to industry. The department provides specialist knowledge on issues related to a safe environment, safe (user) buildings, partly in relation to the environment and safe living. The department is developing in the field of research & analysis. Based on this knowledge, risks can be positively influenced in a targeted manner.
The department Preparation fire service focuses on the preparation of the incident control and directly associated conditions creating jobs. National participation and innovation are divided over the various professional disciplines. Within the department, a distinction is made between work in the field of becoming and remaining professional, in the field of operational preparation and work in the field of equipment and logistics.
The Incident Response department focuses on incident response and necessary related tasks. In addition to the day-to-day management and management tasks, activities are carried out directly for the readiness of the missions and post-umbrella activities. In addition, activities are carried out in the field of knowledge management, fire research, etc. and the department is supported in post-related matters in relation to volunteers.
The Preparation for Disasters & Crises department focuses on the multidisciplinary, medical and population care processes as described in the Security Regions Act (Wvr). The preparation and implementation of these processes is designed in collaboration and coordination with internal and external networks so that the processes deliver maximum effectiveness in the implementation. VRC provides a trained and expert 24/7 ready crisis organization for scaled-up situations.
