About

The Voice of Libyan Women (VLW) is a Libyan women’s advancement and empowerment NGO based in Tripoli, with branch offices in Zawia & Misrata, focusing on improving the political participation and economic investment of Libyan women, as well as advocating for the elimination of all forms of gender based violence.

VLW’s ultimate goal is the belief that women can create not only a dialogue but also a platform in which women can participate in a new, free Libya in which they can be architects of their own future.

VLW is a youth-led organization, initially founded in August 2011 as a result of the February 17 Revolution by a group of young Libyan women from different backgrounds, our ultimate goal is to advocate for an increased investment into one of Libya’s greatest resources: women.

They focus their activities mainly on: improving the political participation and the economic empowerment of women in Libya. They are also active in advocating against gender based violence (GBV).
