World Friends Korea is the new name of the Korean government's overseas volunteer group that aims at helping people around the world while enhancing Korea's brand value.
In 2009, overseas voluntary service groups of separate administrative government departments were integrated into what is now World Friends Korea. First, KOICA Volunteers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, IT Volunteers from the Ministry of Security and Public Administration, and University Volunteers and the Science & Techno Peace Corps for Developing Countries from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technobgy were integrated into a single organization. Then, in 2010, the Mid-to-Long-Term Advisors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senior Experts from the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Taekwondo Peace Corps from the Minis-try of Culture, Sports and Tourism joined WFK. All of these formerly separate groups are now serving the world under the auspices of World Friends Korea.
