World Hope International
About

World Hope International is a Christian relief and development organization working with vulnerable and exploited communities to alleviate poverty, suffering and injustice.

World Hope International exists for "the least of these”. We work in 14 of the poorest countries in the world, helping all people, regardless of ethnicity, gender, race or religion. We serve the poorest of the poor, those crippled by a lack of opportunity. We put children first, because we believe that when you empower the youngest generation, you invest in future leaders. Leaders who will ensure their children grow up in a world with opportunity, dignity and hope.

What we do

At WHI, we take a holistic approach to tackling poverty. We partner with local communities to determine the most sustainable, grassroots solutions to injustice and oppression, with the ultimate goal of transferring ownership of all development initiatives to the community. Through these partnerships, we are committed to reflecting Christ's compassion for all who suffer by providing:

1) Anti-Trafficking – World Hope responds to anti-trafficking through:

  • Emergency Aftercare - World Hope International offers a safe place for young survivors newly removed from sexual slavery in Cambodia and Sierra Leone to recover. Each receives physical, psychological and spiritual care as they heal.
  • Education - World Hope International helps individuals and communities identify the signs of human trafficking through awareness education.

2) Clean Water Wells and Sanitation - Since 2004, World Hope International has worked to drill clean water wells and provide necessary sanitation in some the world’s most impoverished communities. Hundreds of thousands in Mozambique and Sierra Leone are living healthier, more productive lives because of clean water. WHI responds to the water crisis in 3 ways:

  • Drilling Wells
  • Building Latrines
  • Education Communities

3) Economic Development - World Hope responds to economic development through:

  • Supply Chain Development - By gathering the organizations, people, technology, activities, information and resources necessary to move a product or service from these communities to eager customers, World Hope International is helping to transform entire countries by creating opportunities for improved livelihoods.
  • Adelphé - Adelphé® is a unique economic development program that is empowering entire Cambodian communities through the empowerment of women. By providing women with economic development opportunities, education and health care, they inspire their families and communities to seek the dignity and hope of a life free from extreme poverty.
  • Rural Development - By introducing these communities to sustainable farming techniques and educating them on proper care for livestock, World Hope International is helping to combat hunger, provide food security and minimize negative environmental impact.

4) Education – World Hope responds to education through:

  • Childhood Education - World Hope International provides essential resources for students, including books, uniforms, classroom supplies and more, helping communities learn that education is an investment worth making.
  • Health Education - World Hope International is helping to restore good health in these areas by improving understanding of preventable diseases like cholera and dysentery, as well as promoting awareness of HIV/AIDS.
  • Resources – World Hope International regularly accesses a variety of resources on childhood and health education to insure optimal effectiveness for each related program.

The organization’s four program areas complement one another and act as a comprehensive response to poverty. Students who are drinking clean water stay in school longer. Further education leads to better job opportunities. Stable families are less vulnerable to traffickers’ lies. Children who are free from slavery grow up with opportunity, dignity and hope. The upward cycle continues.
