York Racial Equality Network (YREN) is a voluntary organisation and registered charity and has been in existence since 1992.

The organisation is accountable to its membership and is governed by a Board of nominated, elected Trustees. The day-to-day management and direction of the organisation is assigned to the Director. 

Aims
York Racial Equality Network aims to

Enable BME voices to be better heard in York

Improve access to appropriate services and support for BME people

Increase the confidence of BME people to express themselves and be mutually supportive

Improve the knowledge and understanding of the wider community, agencies, businesses and public services on the needs of the BME population and the importance of combatting racial hatred, discrimination and harassment

Improve the level of Hate Crime reporting and the experience of BME people reporting Hate Crime
