Women's non-governmental organization "Zan wa Zamin" (Woman and Earth)
Tajikistan gained independence in 1991, but faced serious social and economic problems caused by the collapse of the Soviet Union and a bloody civil war. As a result, many women were left without husbands, and children without fathers. Zan wa Zamin Women's non-governmental organization was founded in 1999 by a group of women activists who contributed to the solution of Tajikistan's social and economic problems after the collapse of the Soviet Union and a brutal civil war. "Zan wa Zamin" NGO works to achieve access to land for landless farmers, supports diversified farming practices, and promotes conservation of agro-biodiversity, paying special attention to women's rights.
The main mission of the organization :
Active participation in achieving sustainable development, democratization and building civil society in Tajikistan by helping to solve social and environmental problems through the implementation of educational programs for women and children to improve the environmental awareness and ecological culture of the population of the republic for the protection of the environment and human health, support of women's farming.
Main tasks of the organization:
To achieve higher goals, the public organization "Zan Va Zamin" has been active in the community of remote and border areas of the Khatlon region of Tajikistan.
