I have over 20 yrs of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation in the context of international development, including several years as an evaluation advisor in a donor organisation. This opened my eyes to the struggle faced by many agencies to meet M&E expectations, and to the disparities between information needs of donors and implementers. In response I shifted from a main focus on evaluation to providing support for organisations wishing to extend capabilities for M&E. Although I continue to carry out evaluations, I focus on assignments that emphasise learning and capacity development. In 2014 and 2015 I served as the Senior M&E Specialist with the Lao Australia Learning Development Facility. In 2016 I co-developed a joint M&E framework for New Zealand and Australia's humanitarian responses in the Pacific. More recent assignments include M&E advisory support to the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Emerging Infectious Diseases, and the Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development Country Program in Vanuatu; and evaluations of the Gender Justice and Healing program in Bougainville, and the Solomon Islands Growth Program. Prior to establishing a consulting practice, I led the Participatory Research Methods Program at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture. I've also worked with the CGIAR Systemwide Program on Participatory Research and Gender Analysis. I have a PhD in Ecology from the University of California, fluency in English & Spanish, and a working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia and Portuguese. Recent professional development includes courses on human-centred design, data visualisation principles-focused evaluation and humanitarian evaluation. I've also trained on Most Significant Change Technique, People-centred Program Logic, Performance Stories & Contribution Analysis, Results-Based M&E Systems and have completed several courses offered by the Evaluator’s Institute.
