Hi, I'm Bryant. I am a journalist working as an editor, writer, and researcher for more than 20 years. I am also into content writing as well as digital, social media, and email marketing. I recently worked as the Senior Philippines Content Manager and English Editor at BenarNews, an online news service that covers politics, security, and human rights in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Thailand. BenarNews is affiliated with Radio Free Asia. I served as a mentor and editor of the 2nd Asian Media Fellowship on Election Reporting organized by the Bangkok-based Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL). The program seeks to uplift the role of journalists from independent news outlets and freelancers in Asia in empowering the electorate through crucial reporting of underrepresented voices and underreported issues during elections. I worked at Manila's ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) as News Production Head, overseeing the network's newscasts, programs, specials, and breaking news events. I also served as one of ANC's Production Unit Heads, working with programs such as "The World Tonight" (ANC's flagship news program and Asia's longest-running newscast), "Business Nightly," and "Headstart." I likewise worked as the Executive Producer for the Saturday and Sunday newscasts of the programs "News Now" at 3 PM; "Top Story Weekend;" "Weekend News Prime;" and "The World Tonight." For more than two years, I worked as the Head Writer of "The World Tonight." I also served as the Head Writer of the current affairs monthly "Tina Monzon Palma Reports." Some of my previous assignments and projects included being the program director of the Philippine Press Institute, the country's association of newspapers, for a year; the Philippine researcher for Internews Europe on its Southeast Asian project on human rights and freedom of expression; as well as an editor, editorial content director, and website manager for an Australian-based digital news media company. For 12 years, I worked for the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR) as senior staffwriter. I served as the managing editor of CMFR's Philippine Journalism Review Reports (PJR Reports), Manila's first media-monitoring publication. In 2009, I received an Asia Media Forum Fellowship. In 2008, I received the “Emerging Leaders in Asian Newsroom” Fellowship from the Asian Center for Journalism. The Asian Center for Journalism also awarded me a three-month grant in 2006 to study conflict and peace reporting.
