Carol-Anne Blenman

Carol-Anne Blenman is an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated Chevening Scholar and International Development Professional/Sustainability Expert, with over a decade of consulting, training and research experience in Development Economics - with a specialized focus on the climate change and disaster risk agendas. As the Founder/Managing Director and CEO of Violeta Consulting Services, she has liaised with several national, regional and international donor institutions. Previous affiliations include the Ministry of Environment and Natural Beautification (Government of Barbados), the University of the West Indies: Cave Hill Campus (Barbados), the United Nations System, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Caribbean Development Bank, the World Bank Group, DFID Caribbean and the Commonwealth Secretariat. Her research areas include the green economy, the blue economy, climate change, SIDS, LDCs, LLDCs, sustainability, climate finance, trade, environmental protection, economic valuations, disaster risk reduction, disaster risk management, sustainable consumption and production, water security, gender, health, poverty reduction, urbanization, education, public sector development, private sector development, social protection, labour markets and financial markets. She has made notable contributions to projects of national, regional and international significance. She has also volunteered her expertise in the following capacities: - Expert Reviewer for multiple IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) outputs and - The International Chevening Team Leader: Caribbean SIDS at the Her Majesty's Government (HMG) Climate Change Hackathon at COP 26 Glasgow. Carol-Anne completed a BSc. in Economics and Management at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in Barbados; and MSc. in Climate Change and Development at the University of Sussex/Institute of Development Studies in the United Kingdom. She is the 2015 recipient of the UK Government’s International Chevening Scholarship Award for developing future global leaders.
