Besides his leadership role in the Department of Primary Industries, Gus has developed and delivered climate-smart agronomic, genetic, and chemistry solutions for producers for over two decades. He has developed sustainability programs to enhance climate resilience for Australian livestock and cropping value chains. He has led initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote soil health, and minimize fugitive chemical runoff into major aquatic systems in the past. His work is based on the principles of balanced plant nutrition, which aim to promote soil health, water efficiency, and commercialization of research innovations.
