Gadisa Hailu Gemechu

My name is Gadisa Hailu. I have been working in various international NGOs in Ethiopia for last over 22 years in rural and urban WASH sector and I am very enthusiastic about WASH and development programs. In my current position as WASH Capacity building and Marketing advisor at SNV Ethiopia WASH for Trachoma Elimination project, I am responsible to oversee the coordination and monitoring the progress of the project activities and capacity building, small scale enterprise development, sanitation marketing promotion and market development in WASH activities. My additional responsibility in SNV also on resource mobilization through developing concept notes and participating in proposal writing with SNV WASH team. I was also project Manager for Sustainable Sanitation Transformation for Peri Urban and Urban Project in SNV for about three years. Prior to SNV Ethiopia, I was Project Director and Urban Project Manager at PHE EC and Amref Health Africa respectively in area of reproductive and maternal health, family Planning, girls and women empowerment, urban and rural WASH projects/program. I have considerable experience of working across different development sectors such as WASH, Health sector, Child and youth Development, Nutrition, and IGA programs/projects. I have rich experience in implementing, designing and proposal writing for project such WASH, public health, and Income generation. I have also conducted different studies and participated in different training and workshops in country as well as abroad. I began a professional work as a junior environmental health expert in ministry of defence in late 1990s. I have a master’s degree in development economics and my first degree was in community development and leadership and I am a registered sanitarian at ministry of health with advance diploma in environmental Health. I later gained a Master level in health leadership development and management from Amref Health Africa training centre in Nairobi.
