International journalist reporting on sustainable development, humanitarian aid and health from Africa and Europe for El Pais newspaper (90% of my feature articles have made the leading headline of the online Planeta Futuro section, supported by the Gates Foundation), and writer/editor at the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR). Former Information Analyst and Officer in Charge of the Field Integrated Operations Centre with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (2014/16). As UN personnel, I guided high-level decision-making through 450 reports and analyses, and I increased the impact of 80 field missions aimed at investigating the security, human rights, development and humanitarian situation in remote, conflict-affected areas. My work has also appeared in Forbes magazine (Core section), CNN (New York), and the World Policy Institute in New York (think tank), and my articles on Social Movements and Economics have been featured in the leading media outlets in Spain via the multimedia newswire Europa Press —I wrote 14.000 pieces in 5 years, including 40 exclusives/year that influenced legislative debates on aid and migration—. Previously, I conducted research on sustainable development in Kenya (paper published in Applied Soil Ecology) in collaboration with the SIDA-funded NGO Vi-Agroforestry (Sweden) and international research centres CIAT and ICRAF (CGIAR network) in Nairobi.
