I am a professional in international development with expertise in multiple domains of agri-food systems programming. I have worked to improve sustainability outcomes of the agri-food sector in about a dozen African countries. I have worked and conducted assignments in Botswana, Eswatini, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zambia. Apart from my home country Ghana, I have lived, worked and studied in South Africa and Australia (MSc and PhD respectively). I have specific technical skills in: - Sustainability assessment of agri-food systems - Facilitating multi-stakeholder arrangements to govern agri-food systems - Developing and managing agribusiness operations - Quality assurance in food processing environments - Developing and implementing food safety systems, guidelines and protocols - Fund and grant management - Objective-oriented project planning - Monitoring & Evaluation; LogFrame and Theory of Change design in development programs - Knowledge auditing, knowledge management and knowledge management strategy development I have experience in the public, private, and third sectors, and worked with development organizations including the German Agency for International Development (GIZ), the International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC), the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV), and other USAID-supported projects. I have worked with policymakers, food standard-setting and regulatory authorities to develop and review the quality and safety standards of key agricultural products. I have led development interventions that supported smallholder farmers to adopt good agricultural practices and obtain certification as a means of improving their market access opportunities. I work at the interface between knowledge and practice, and advocate for a closer collaboration among academia, civil society, the private sector, development organizations, and policymakers to improve the human condition.
