Janet Cornell

JANET has expansive court experience in general and limited jurisdiction courts. She is a consultant, educator and author. From 2002 to 2013 she was court administrator for Scottsdale (Arizona) City Court, Previously she was: a criminal justice and integration staff consultant with the Maricopa County (Phoenix) IT Department; a senior judicial administrator with the Maricopa County Superior Court; administrator with the Maricopa County Justice Courts; and operations manager, U.S. District Court, District of Arizona. Presentations and consulting for local, federal, and international audiences have included Alabama, Argentina, Arizona, Australia, Brazil, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Guyana, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Micronesia, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Palau, Pennsylvania, Serbia, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington. Ms. Cornell has published many court-based articles. She is past president of the National Association for Court Mgmt., Arizona Courts Association, and the (Arizona) Limited Jurisdiction Court Administrators Association. She is a member of the National Association for Court Management and the International Association for Court Administration, and continues involvement in association conferences, committees, and projects. She is currently Editor for the NACM Newsletter "The Court Express" (www.nacmnet.org/resources/publications/) She has received awards from the Arizona Supreme Court, the City of Scottsdale, the National Association for Court Management, and National Center for State Courts. She has: a Masters of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts, Arizona State University; is an Institute for Court Management Fellow, Nat'l Center for State Courts; and certificates from the Leadership Institute for Judicial Education, University of Memphis, Tennessee, and the Leader Coach Institute, Scottsdale. Areas of expertise include: caseflow management, court performance measurement, operational assessment and reengineering, access for self represented litigants, and leadership.
