John Lindsey

I am motivated by the opportunity to contribute to transformational change in developing countries so that every individual can have not just improved livelihoods but a life of continuous economic progress and true personal freedom. With over 25 years of experience in the banking and international development sectors, I am skilled at successfully building relationships and managing engagements with host governments, donors and the private sector to conceptualize and execute projects and transactions to address pressing environmental and economic growth challenges in Africa and the Middle East. Over the past twelve years, I have successfully executed a diverse set of consulting/advisory assignments for USAID and the African Development Bank, playing a leading role in the design and implementation of initiatives to mobilize resources of approximately USD 600 million to develop nascent sectors and stimulate inclusive economic growth. I continuously bring to bear my extensive private sector experience gained in the banking sector to secure participation or design roles for firms and financiers to provide capital, technology, and know-how to maximize development impact and enhance the long-term sustainability of donor-financed interventions. In addition to having the requisite experience to develop and lead advisory, project management, and stakeholder engagement activities within the context of multi-partner collaborations, I have had the opportunity to establish local offices and manage multi-cultural teams that included local and expatriate staff. While completing assignments in Angola, Iraq, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Senegal, Zambia, Tanzania, and Egypt, I built a broad base of expertise in the areas of renewable energy project finance, climate finance, water and sanitation, agriculture, and the sustainable use of marine resources for blue economy activites in the fisheries and tourism sectors. I am a native English speaker with proficiency in both French and Portuguese, and I have intermediate Arabic language skills.
