I am a fisheries biologist with an MSc in Marine and Fisheries Science from the University of Aberdeen (UK) and a Degree in Zoology by the university of Valencia (Spain). I have been working as a marine conservation and fisheries consultant since 2010, and as a biologist since 2003. My specialization is the assessment of fisheries sustainability. Key areas of experience: • Small-scale and artisanal fisheries; • Fisheries supply and value chains; • Aquaculture, including hydroponics; • Use of insect feed (e.g. black soldier fly) in aquaculture and in other food production sectors; • Mariculture of seaweed, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, sponges and black pearl oysters; • Coastal fisheries, aquaculture and community-based management of natural resources in Pacific Island Countries (PICs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS); • Tuna fisheries; • Fisheries Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS); • Regional Fisheries Management Organizations; • Ocean-related Institutional and policy framework; • International Ocean and fisheries management and governance; • Safety at sea; • IUU (illegal, unreported and unregulated) fisheries; • Human Rights at Sea; • Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis of marine environmental stresses; • Environmental impacts of fisheries, including bycatch of vulnerable species; • Marine and coastal ecology; • Seabed / Benthic vulnerable habitats; • Due Diligence assessments; • Fisheries economics and fleet overcapacity; • LEK - Role of fisherfolk knowledge in governance, management and science. • Blue Economy.
