Over twenty-six years of experience in both the development and private sectors of East African with particular focus on business development and agriculture. I partnered with leading development agencies to design and adopt private sector approaches (market systems/M4P) to challenges facing African smallholders and SMEs. I have designed and developed rural Youth Livelihoods policies, identified and addressed numerous challenges including access to finance, post-harvest losses, responses to climate change and market information access. I led capacity building teams that provided business and technical mentoring for both rural and urban SMEs in East Africa. I have also developed business models for private sector agricultural projects. More recently I have undertaken Value for Money and functionality assessments of G-Soko the DFID supported East African grain trading platform and warehouse receipts programme. This combination of private sector managerial and development experience has provided me with the skills to take an analytical and pragmatic approach to many of the challenges that the development sector is facing. I have extensive East African experience and speak Kiswahili.
